Exploring Apache Incubator Project Trajectories with APEX

# Description

The paper discusses projects in the nascent stage are incubated in the ASF incubator (ASFI) and are evaluated before graduating or retiring based on their sustainability promise. To monitor project trajectories, publicly available time-stamped traces of developer activities from ASF are used. The article introduces a web app dashboard tool, APEX, which enables stakeholders to monitor and explore ASFI project sustainability trajectories, including social and technical networks.

# Findings

We first introduce APEX, and then describe use cases that demonstrate its utility in a) monitoring for ASF project downturn events, b) identifying longer term engagements between developers, and c) within-ASF project comparisons.
